In which I find a new way to do a Facebook flounce.

I have no desire to leave Facebook. I like it. But there’s trouble in Zuckerland, and there are huge problem in relying on a private space for your social media fix and your communications with friends, family and fellow activists.

Here’s my sort-of-flounce status update.

Facebook is planning to stop people using its network to share information about police violence. This is serious. A lot of Facebook staff have withdrawn their labour for a period in protest (not very visible as they're mostly working from home), and some are resigning. Trump is putting intense pressure on particularly Twitter, but also social media in general. Zuckerberg has tried to curry favour with him by not labelling as problematic the tweet Twitter labelled as inciting violence, and Facebook staff are not happy about that.

This status update could get me a temp or permanent ban. I am knowingly including trigger words.

And that's the point. If you support or share information around #blm or you indicate as #antifa there's every danger you're about to be blocked. FB COO wants to ban #BDS, even discussion of it.

First make sure Facebook isn't your only social media connection with friends, family, colleagues and trusted news sources. Take social…
